Ruapuna 24

Ruapuna 24

Yesterday was fun. In the middle of a hectic weekend run around we finally got out to the Ruapuna 24 being held out at the Powerbuilt Ruapuna Speedway. No cars though… just keen people braving the bitter southerly on skateboards, rollerskates, and inline skates, battling out a distance challenge. I got out there and chugged a lame 4.3kms on my shortboard with my daughter in close tow, but some of these guys were getting some pretty high kms — Troy Bilbrough put in 343 of them — which is basically from Christchurch to Picton on a skateboard!

Keep an eye on the Skate Further website for updates.

I’ve always been involved with the photography in recent years for this poster, but this year we got to design it too! More details about the event here.

Skate Further Business Card

A little while ago we ran a competition to help out a local business/organisation during recovery from the February Earthquake. Skate Further got the hat draw and we helped them get back on their feet organising local events and profiling distance skateboarding by creating a hand-crafted script logo and business card design. Print Monday came to the party and shouted 250 free business card prints which turned out very slick.

Skate Further then discussed a sponsorship deal to design a poster for their upcoming event later this month — the Ruapuna 24. This charity event involves skaters that like to push for a long time — 24 hours for the keen ones! The event is also open to inline skaters, rollerskaters, and (dare I say it) scooters. Everyone will be circuiting the 3.3km Ruapuna Racetrack to their own level, and raising funds for Chomondeley House.
