With our hometown of Christchurch being pelted with the best southerly we’ve had in years, and our good friend SVB stranded in NZ with us, we made the most of it (aside from drinking Canadian Club to keep warm) by setting up a photoshoot off our roof. Enjoy!

Recently over at Cheapskates Skate Skool we’ve been working together to set up a regular feature on their blog called Grom Of The Month. This where we seek out a talented young skater in the Christchurch area, give them a series of quickfire questions, take them out for a shoot, then point the spotlight on them on the Skate Skool website. Here’s a couple of picks from the recent Grom Of The Month shoots.

To see more head over to the Skate Skool website.

Sadhana’s 6’3″ Balsa Fish Up For Auction

Sadhana's Balsa Fish

One of our great clients Sadhana Surfboards have recently been crafting a 6’3″ Balsa Fish that is now up for auction. The board which is partially made up of recycled materials from demolished buildings close to Sadhana’s factory, is going to be a fundraiser for the Red Cross in support of the ongoing recovery since our 6.3mag earthquake in February. The board is beautifully made and representative of a challenging time for many in and around Christchurch. We wish Jay all the best with the auction, and the lucky winner a big thumbs up, you’ll sure be stoked with that board!

6’3″ Balsa Fish For A 6.3 Mag Quake

One of our amazing clients Sadhana Surfboards, are getting amongst the active rebuild of our city since the earthquake last month. As representation of the 6.3 mag quake that devastated many lives, and changed and continues to change many others, Jay from Sadhana is crafting a 6’3″ Balsa South Island Fish to put up for auction with proceeds heading towards the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. The stringer and fins will be shaped from timber that once held up the collapsed building behind Sadhana’s Factory.

You can follow Jay’s progress on creating this masterpiece on Sadhana Surfboards’ Facebook Page.

On another note, we’re just about to unveil Sadhana’s sexy new website too. It’s based similarly on their current version, but now packs in a raft of new features, we won’t mention too much quite yet, but keep an eye out…

7 Studio Tips For Working Post Quake

Posted on: 1 Comment

With Christchurch still under a few regular shakes after our 6.3 mag quake on the 22nd February, I thought it might be a good idea to share a few tips for others — particularly working in an office/studio environment. Dealing with aftershocks is no easy task, and possibly more larger quakes keeps us on our toes. These tips are by no means professional advice, but might help more as reminders and ideas to consider if it suits you or your workplace. (more…)

Lucias type

Here’s a cool thing Lisa and I noticed on our lounge whiteboard (where the kids have free reign to draw whenever they like). Lucia (6) cranking her Christmas request with a crafty, curly typeface. Hopefully Santa will figure out the difference between a dog and a duck…

St Albans After The Quake

Here’s a couple of shots I’ve been eyeing up in my local area since the recent earthquake. Just had to time it so I didn’t look like a looter. Both shots 30 second exposures with a touch of HDR.

Coptic Orthodox Church, Edgeware Road.

Edgeware/Barbadoes Street Shops, hopefully Inkgrave Tattoo (third in from the right) pull through this OK, they’re some talented artists.
